4 pomelo cultivation areas meet the criteria for establishing cultivation area codes.

The Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) organized a ceremony to announce the plant quarantine requirements for pomelos exported to the United States after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) published a federal decision allowing the import of fresh Vietnamese pomelos into this market.



In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, in preparation for the export of fresh pomelos to the US market, the application process for cultivation area codes in 4 pomelo cultivation areas for export to this market (including Kim Long Organic Pomelo Farm, Hoang Long 1 Pomelo Farm, Hoang Long 2 Pomelo Farm, and Song Xoai Green Peel Pomelo) owned by Mr. Truong Van Ut and Mr. Ho Hoang Kha in Phu My town, with a total area of 68 hectares, has been completed. These farms have met the standards for establishing and monitoring cultivation area codes as specified in TCCS 774:2020/PPV.

In the coming period, the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection will continue the work of establishing, managing, and proposing cultivation area codes for rambutan and dragon fruit. Additionally, they will expand the proposed cultivation area codes for lychee exports in Xuyen Moc district.

Regarding cultivation area codes for dragon fruit in Xuyen Moc district, the process of registering 4 cultivation area codes is underway, covering a total area of 57 hectares, with an estimated annual output of approximately 1,630 tons and an estimated export volume of 1,427 tons per year. Dragon fruit production in this area currently adheres to certifications for food safety and VietGAP standards.

Concerning cultivation area codes for rambutan in Chau Duc district, the registration process is in the final stages for 6 cultivation area codes, covering a total area of 80 hectares, with an estimated annual output of around 600 tons and an estimated export volume of 500 tons per year. Organizations currently registering cultivation area codes for rambutan exports include Saurieng 9B Cooperative with an area of 20 hectares and the rambutan cultivation area in Xa Bang commune, Chau Duc district, with an area of 60 hectares.
